Camping Ground Fees & Camp Site Prices

Although the National Park Service (NPS), is exploring the possibility of charging overnight campers for their services, it was not certain if this would be feasible. On Sept. 26, 1969, Luis A. Gastellum wrote to NPCS Administrator George B. Hartzog, Jr. with concerns about the proposed fee program. In his letter, Luis A. Gastellum urged George B. Hartzog Jr. to continue to study the idea. The resulting discussion lasted until March 1970, at which point a congressional directive was issued to make fees effective.

Private campgrounds can't be subsidized with tax dollars like federal parks and must charge visitors fees. However, the fee is necessary, as it covers costs incurred by visiting visitors. Most campgrounds agree that visitors should be charged for the services they receive. Be prepared to pay more if your campground is popular. You may be able to negotiate a lower rate in some cases but you should expect to pay more.

Some campgrounds offer free camping for seniors, but they must comply with government regulations. Senior citizens are allowed to camp with four spouses or four children. However there are restrictions on group picnics, backcountry, marine fees and day use fees. In addition, a second vehicle must be parked at the same site and pay half of the fee. Additional vehicles must also have valid park tags. For a week, a resident will pay more to park in a state-owned park.

If you can't afford to pay more for an RV park, consider staying at a campground without the luxury of resort amenities. Smaller RV parks offer more amenities and are usually cheaper than larger ones. Even though the costs will be lower than larger RV parks, you still have a place to park it. If you're prepared to compromise certain amenities, this could be a great alternative. You might even be able to save money by not paying extra for amenities.

Camping pitches can be rented for up to two people. An awning is free, but some campsites charge a fee. Glimmerglass, for example, has six adult sites and nine children. Site #165, however, charges two adults and five children. To avoid additional fees or charges, a cabin usually costs more. However, you should check with the campground before booking.

Prices for camping vary depending on which facility they are located in. At popular campgrounds, campsites will assign each camper a specific space. At these sites, the rates are generally fifteen to thirty dollars per night. Groups may need to be split up during high season. The group's number will determine how much cancellation fees are due. Before arriving, you should also review the rules and regulations.

FAQ

My survival gear should be stored where?

Keep your emergency gear handy so you can quickly access it in an emergency. A closet or under your beds is the best place to store supplies.

Label your supplies with their contents and dates so that you can identify which ones have been used and which ones are still good.

You should also keep a duplicate of your inventory elsewhere. If something happens to your house or apartment, you'll need proof that you had the right stuff.

What emergency supplies should you have at your home?

If you are going to be away for a longer period of time, it's important to plan ahead. Consider packing food, water and a first aid kit. You will feel more prepared and confident in your ability to survive any situation.

An excellent place to start would be a basic kit for first aid. It should contain antiseptic creams as well painkillers, bandages and gauze pads. Tweezers, scissors, thermometers, alcohol swabs and tweezers are also recommended. You may also want to include a flashlight for checking what is in your kit during power outages.

You can store them in a plastic container that has a lid. This will make sure they remain dry and clean.

Another option is to keep food frozen for up two weeks. Even better, you could make your own freeze-dried foods. These are easy to cook and require no cooking pots or pans. Add hot water to make it ready to eat.

A solar-powered battery backup is another option. This will allow you recharge your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

These supplies should be kept in a waterproof container, such as a bag, box, bucket, or plastic bag. When you are hiking, ensure that your supplies are easily accessible and won't be lost.

Consider the things you'll be using most often, and how much space each one takes up when packing. If you have room left over, consider adding extra items. If you are planning on spending a lot time outdoors cooking, you might consider adding a stove and pots to your shopping list.

Keep track of your supplies so that you are able to find them when you return to civilization.
